The Yellow Coneflower is naturally found in the Ozarks in Arkansas and Missouri and yields beautiful yellow flowers with dark pistils. These flowers typically bloom on tall, gangly stems in the early summer and are each roughly 6 in. W. As the only variety of “Purple Coneflower” that does not produce purple flowers, the Yellow Coneflower is very aromatic and is very attractive to various insects such as butterflies and bees when in bloom. The leafage on the Yellow Coneflower grows up to 18 in. H but the flowers themselves grow double that at 36 in. tall but may require several growing seasons to reach their full height. They are beautiful in borders or planted in large groups with their open form. Requiring little maintenance, the Yellow Coneflower prefers full sun and is drought tolerant once well-established. If you are looking for a “pop” of color in your gardening or landscaping, the Yellow Coneflower is the perfect addition.
